I am Cuong Le from Vietnam, graduated from Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City with a degree of Organic Chemistry in 2007. After participating in chemical testing laboratory for 7 years, I started to study abroad and obtained Master of Engineering degree at Pukyong National University (Busan – South Korea) in 2017. Currently, I join in the Innovative Training Network (ITN) as a PhD candidate and focus my research on Thiol-Ene Miniemulsion Photopolymerisation at Institute of Mullhouse Materials (Mullhouse, France).
I am Lorena Infante Teixeira, Brazilian-Spanish former Erasmus student of “Advanced Spectroscopy in Chemistry” program at the University of Lille 1. For my master thesis, I worked at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow in the synsthesis and photochemical characterization of novel porphyrin-based photosensitizers for application in PhotoDynamic Therapy of cancer. Currently, I have joined the ITN ETN Photo-Emulsion project and I will be working with functional and reactive sulfur polymer latex within Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Germany.
I am Justine ELGOYHEN from France. I studied Physics and Chemistry at the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour, in the south of France, and I then moved to Paris and graduated from the Sorbonne University with a Master Degree in Material Chemistry. During my studies, I spent time abroad, both in the United States of America and in Scotland: I studied at the University of Aberdeen as an Erasmus student, and worked with the Sumerlin Research Group at the University of Florida. I have joined the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network on Thiol-ene Miniemulsion Photopolymerisation at the POLYMAT center in San Sebastian. My project focuses on the synthesis of polysulfide latex with controlled architectures, to develop and characterize novel barrier films.
Brahim BESSIF (ESR4)
Physikalisches Institut, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg
I am Brahim BESSIF from Morocco and I graduated with diploma of Master studies in Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies, Nanophysic track at the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA) in France 2018, during my master thesis, I worked on In-Situ/Operando X-Ray Diffraction applied to Advanced Functional Films and Devices. My work as a PhD student of the PHOTO-EMULSION project will mostly be dedicated on controlling polymer architecture and crystallinity in University of Freiburg.
Alexander RICKE (ESR5)
Technische Universität Wien (TUW)
I am Alexander Ricke from Germany and I hold a Bachelor´s degree in Biochemistry from the Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf. I wrote my Bachelor thesis at the Institute for Bioorganic Chemistry in the Jülich Research Centre. The international environment at the research centre motivated me to explore new countries and meet people with different cultural backgrounds. Thus, I made the decision to go abroad for my Master studies. Furthermore, I wanted to change my field of studies because the laboratory work in Chemistry was more appealing to me compared to Biology. Hence, I chose to join the Master Program in Organic Chemistry at Stockholm University and was awarded an Erasmus scholarship for my first year of studies. I have obtained my Master´s degree in September 2018 and now I will join the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network Photo-Emulsion at the TU Wien in Austria. My contribution to the project will be the development and synthesis of new bifunctional and polyfunctional monomers based on renewable resources. My PhD includes a 6-month secondment at the University of Maribor (PolyOrgLab) in Slovenia and a 4-month internship at the industrial partner Glantreo in Ireland. The potential applications of my research results for the 3D printing of porous scaffolds makes this project appealing to me, as it connects my scientific backgrounds and research interests in biotechnology an organic chemistry with a long-term purpose.
Viola HOBIGER (ESR6)
PolyOrg Lab, University of Maribor
I am Viola Hobiger from Austria and I have a Bachelors Degree in Food- and Biotechnology from the University of Natural Ressources and Life Sciences in Vienna. I started a Master’s Degree in Technical Chemistry at the Technical University of Vienna in 2016, but after a research internship in Organic Chemistry at Stockholm University, I decided to move to Sweden and to pursue there my Master’s Degree. I have obtained my Master’s degree in August 2018 from Stockholm University. while working for a company called Dyenamo (Production of organic dyes for dye-sensitized solar cells). My work as a PhD will mostly be performed in PolyOrgLab in Slovenia where I will adapt a templating method using an emulsion to induce macropores in the polymer bulk. This method will ultimately lead to polymers with macro pores which enable us to grow biological cells. I will also spend some of my time at the TU Vienna and in Glantreo (Ireland). This project is especially exciting for me because I will be able to use my education in Biotechnology as well as in Chemistry.
Eirini SKOUFA (ESR7)
Institut Charles Sadron (ICS) CNRS,
I am Eirini SKOUFA from Greece. I studied Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Ioannina in Greece, while I took the chance to carry out my two-month internship at the Dept. of Research and Development of Pharmathen S.A. (Development of complex generic products and advanced pharmaceutical technologies). After completing my engineering studies, I decided to strengthen my knowledge on polymer science by undertaking a master of Science in Chemistry and Technology of Materials as well as to work in quality control for nature S.A. (Production of advanced fertilizers and plant nutrition). My work as a PhD will mostly be held in Charles Sadron Institute in Strasbourg, France where I joined the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network on Thiol-ene Miniemulsion Photopolymerisation. During the project I will be able to contribute to the understanding of production of poly(tiol-ene) nanoparticles using a continuous-flow miniemulsion photopolymerization process.
Narmin SUVARLI (ESR8)
Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT)
I am Narmin SUVARLI from Azerbaijan, a small country in the Middle East. Graduated with the Master degree in the Advanced Spectroscopy in Chemistry European Master program. Enforcing the mobility requirement of the program, I studied at the Universitè Lille 1, Universität Leipzig and the University of Helsinki. I larned about the Marie-Skladowska ITN before my Master studies and hence I applied for the Thiol-ene Miniemulsion Photopolymerization program in the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology for pursuing my PhD. The topic was very captivating and I was very happy to recieve the offer. I hope, in the future I will have more opportunities to apply my knowledge to the world of science.
